SIMILAR PIECES : At the 1900 Paris World Fair, Lucien Gaillard exhibited an impressive array of silver and bronze vases, remarkable for their subtle, alluring patinas. Often mentioned in the press around that time, Gaillard’s pieces were awarded a Grand Prix. Some of them were acquired by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. The Minneapolis Institute of Art owns a bronze vase which was likely shown in Paris (98.276.149). Other notable Gaillard pieces are in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay and the Rijksmuseum, however nothing of this magnitude.
