PROVENANCE : Collection of the Doat family - European private collection, acquired directly from the previous owners, until 2020.
SIMILAR PIECES : This is only the fifth example of this very rare shape to be recorded. Two of them are in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Philadelphia Museum or Art. The last two, one of which came from the Taxile Doat workshop sale in 1973, are in private collections. The vase offered here was previously unknown and has never been offered for sale before.
